description

Cumberland Biofuels Cooperative was created to produce vegetable oil fuel in Chattanooga, from local waste oil. Restaurateurs who previously had to pay to dispose of waste oil can now allow CBC to pick up their oil at no cost to be processed into high-quality, ultra low-emissions Biodiesel for use right here in our bioregion.

why

why should people support this cause

Blood Assurance Chattanooga, The State of Tennessee, and other diesel fleet owners have committed to using biodiesel in their vehicles as a responsible and caring action for their community. Petroleum diesel exhaust has been positively linked to childhood asthma, COPD,and other breathing-related illness. Since the Bloodmobile emits exhaust all day in the presence of pedestrians immediately nearby, their exposure to petroleum exhaust is unavoidable. By switching to Biodiesel, Blood Assurance has dramatically reduced the health risk to those who are standing there breathing the fumes, and dramatically reduced their environmental footprint for all of us. Unfortunately, if we try to buy biodiesel at the pump, we won't find it. State road taxes, inspection fees, Fire Code regulations, and zoning ordinances combine to make sure that biodiesel is a losing proposition in Chattanooga. We need permission to do the right thing!
