Emilie Sewak, Program Director

Emilie is our Program Director. She is often the first person you’ll meet when bringing a new idea to Causeway. Well-versed in the messy process of starting up a new idea, Emilie loves acting as coach, guide, and cheerleader for our causes. Emilie’s personal motto is “No idea is too small, no level of success too great!” In addition to facilitating Causeway’s CO.STARTERS for Causes and Challenge Incubation programs, Emilie is constantly working on new, creative ways to track our impact in the community and learn how we can better support our causes.

Before joining Causeway, Emilie was an Assistant Children’s Director at Northwest Chapel in Columbus, Ohio where she managed event planning, fundraising, and also oversaw its preschool program. A self-starter at heart, Emilie has worked on and off as a professional organizer for small businesses and personal clients, as well as taken up roles as a community organizer. While in college, Emilie started a student-led club that raised awareness about how and where most clothes and products are made, and then partnered with local stores, like Wellspring Treasures, to offer students responsible alternatives for where they could shop.

Emilie currently lives in Highland Park, Chattanooga and grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. For her last semester in college, she lived in Montepulciano, Italy where she studied Shakespeare and Political Theory. Emilie moved to Chattanooga to follow her passion for rock climbing and philanthropy, two things the city does really well. She also currently serves as an UNFoundation Trustee in Chattanooga to help give grassroots micro-grants to local causes.
