Q: What is Causeway?
A: Using an entrepreneurial approach, Causeway inspires and equips Chattanoogans to develop smarter solutions to our city's toughest challenges. Causeway is a civic innovation hub that believes in the power of people taking action for a better city. We are supported by a growing network of Chattanoogans who believe in an entrepreneurial approach to everything, including community projects. We believe that every problem has a solution, we just need a way to connect the two so that stuff gets done. That's where Causeway comes in.
Causeway started as an online platform that connected unmet needs with people who wanted to help. As we grow, the future is going to include many additional ways for Chattanoogans to join together to solve community problems in innovative new ways. Read more about what we do.

Q: Is Causeway a 501(c)(3) organization?
A: Yes. Causeway is a 501(c)(3) public charity. This basically means that your contributions are tax-deductible to the extent the law allows, whether you donate directly to Causeway or to one of our campaigns. When you contribute to a campaign, our goal is to pass 100% of your contributions to the cause, and let you track results transparently. You can also give directly to Causeway -- your donation helps us give back even more and to be more efficient, transparent, and results-oriented.
Q: Where does Causeway get its funding?
A: Until recently, our efforts have been funded by individual Chattanoogans who want to help our citizens help themselves. In order to grow into a full-blown social entrepreneurship hub, several local foundations and businesses have recently signed on to provide operating support through our growth phase. We hope to leverage their investment in Causeway by stepping up our activity, focusing on creating more opportunities for people to become civically engaged, and building a movement of people who are equipped and inspired to make Chattanooga a better place to live.
Q: Can I donate directly to Causeway to support its work?
A: Yes! Causeway would be grateful for your support. You can donate to Causeway here. Thank you!
Q: Are Causeway donations tax-deductible?
A: Yes. Because we're a 501(c)(3) organization, your monetary donations to Causeway are tax deductible. After making a donation to Causeway or to a specific campaign, you will receive an email receipt from us for your tax records. If you make a contribution by check or cash, you'll receive a mailed, paper receipt from us for your records.
