One Table is Causeway's annual city-wide Thanksgiving potluck. Every year on the Monday before Thanksgiving, we shut down the block between Miller Park and Miller Plaza for Chattanoogans to come together and share a meal in the middle of Martin Luther King Boulevard at one long table.
The space between Miller Park and Miller Plaza seems like a symbol of the things that often separate us. One Table is Causeway’s attempt to remove barriers and bring people together from across Chattanooga to get to know each other and build understanding and friendship. We believe that to build a city that is an honest reflection of its residents, everyone should be invited to the table. So please, invite friends, family, strangers and acquaintances.
There's no fee, no expectations and no agenda, just an open invitation to get to know your neighbors a little better and to give thanks for this city of ours, together. It is incredibly important to us that this event is inviting and accessible for all people. Want to help us do that? Please consider donating the price you would spend on lunch that day to our One Table campaign to cover lunch for a fellow Chattanoogan. Looking for other ways to get involved? You can volunteer, or just show up with lots of food to share!
"It’s a unique idea among U.S. cities … because it pivots from the tradition of merely feeding the downtrodden. Instead, food is used as a way for people who don’t normally hang out to meet one another as part of Causeway’s mission to make Chattanooga more connected."
