CARTAgraphy connects bus riders to their bus routes with technology available to a wider base of Chattanooga’s citizens through a text-based bus tracker. Knowledge is empowering. If a bus rider knows when their bus will arrive, they’ll be better able to plan ahead. They'll be able to spend less time waiting at a bus stop, and more time doing whatever they want or need to do. CARTA customers with low-cost feature phones (that is, “dumb phones”) have limited access to the internet and are left in the dark when it comes to the resources that CARTA offers for tracking bus schedules. CARTAgraphy aims to minimize the time a person is stuck at a bus stop waiting for their bus without the ability to check when it will arrive. In this way, it can impact the quality of life of riders everywhere in Chattanooga.
