Abby Garrison, Executive Director
Abby is our Executive Director. She makes sure we’re headed in the right direction, staying focused on projects and programs that matter. In addition to her role as chief curator at Causeway, Abby also designs new programs with a focus on social innovation and civic engagement. She ensures we have the resources and people we need to get there, and encourages everyone to bring their A-game every day here at Causeway.
Before coming to Causeway, Abby was the Chief Operating Officer of Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise (CNE), a neighborhood revitalization and community development organization in Chattanooga. During her time there, she established the organization’s Pocket Park initiative, reinvigorated the rehab lending program, and facilitated a public design process for the St. Elmo neighborhood. Before CNE, Abby worked as a performance consultant with Community Impact of Chattanooga and gained nonprofit experience at the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Washington, DC, and River City Company in Chattanooga. Prior to graduate school, Abby lived in San Francisco where she worked at Williams-Sonoma, Inc. as part of their Emerging Brands team that launched Williams-Sonoma Home, and entirely new concept at the time.
A native Chattanoogan and Baylor School alumna, Abby graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Politics and holds graduate degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill in City and Regional Planning and an MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School. She serves on the Board of Cornerstones historic preservation organization and the City of Chattanooga’s Community Development Advisory Board. Abby lives in the Rivermont area of Chattanooga with her husband Ben, daughters Annabelle and Sophie, and their rescue dog Buster.
